Vita: An Erotic Thriller ReviewUsually I don't like books that graphically describe sex, but this bad-girl Vita is so much fun that I got over my qualms and kept reading. Vita is artificial and obvious in what she does, but men keep falling for her. It's fun to watch them get what they deserve--fools that they are when ensnarled by a beautiful woman.The writing is outstanding. You don't rush through VITA in one or two nights. I stretched out my reading to savor the beautiful, creepy atmospherics. I felt truly immersed in the faraway worlds of a Greek seaport, Arab marketplaces, ancient Egyptian temple sites, even shabby downtown Hollywood. The locales in VITA are as a exotic as in a Bond movie, but more related to plot--like when Vita is enjoying non-stop, drop-dead sex with both her lover boy and a nursing student (female) the steamy action is set in Cairo's medieval Islamic quarter. Arabs may be heavily robed and veiled, but everywhere they look they see hundreds of phallic minarets and breast-like domes--sexual repession finds an outlet for expression in beautiful Islamic religious architecture. Since public display of sensuality is forbidden, eveyone more sex-conscious. Sex seems more exciting. Amusing conundrums like this make Vita well worth reading. And re-reading.
