Breakfast in Nudie Suits ReviewJust strange that it takes an English publisher to put out one of the great American road books. Author Ian Dunlop was in the International Submarine Band and the first version of the Flying Burritos with Gram Parsons. The book is the teu story of Dunlop's flight from LA in 1968 (via the Joshua Tree) heading east with other musical buddies in a couple of beat-up microbuses. There a great story here of a vanished America and amazing insights into the early Gram Parsons story (though he is't in the book that much you do learn a heck of a lot about him). Its a compelling read and will keep you scrolling the pages to the last. It's the story of the birth of alt country - hated by both country traditionalists and liberal rock music types alike. With Cameo roles from the likes of Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper, Dave Crosby, Arthur Lee, and Hugh Masekela. It's long but like all great books it leaves you wanting more...Breakfast in Nudie Suits Overview
