Action: A Novel ReviewI am not famous, but I am an avid reader. This tale, is fiction, but it mentions so many famous film personages from actors to agents, that it appears as a novel/autobiography. There are some insights into famous personages that I recognize. However, since this is a Novel, the reader may suspect, but really doesn't know whether they are true.
I am familiar with a few authors, and know that endorsements are paid by the publisher/author (with a few notable exceptions). And those exceptions are reserved for exceptional books. This book is not exceptional. Its too long, I did enjoy the first chapters, but it seem to go on and on, like so many bad movies, especially those who are stuffed with "stars".
Are the readers who have actually witnessed other occupations, the "evils" of the entertainment business is no different than any other enterprises. Someone should tell the entertainment industry that if they disappeared tomorrow, life would go on. We would miss the military, big business and perhaps the educators of this country. Without them, we would probably live in a country that didn't allow free speech and entertainment, could not drive to places of recreation, or use the electronic media without electricy. And without education, we would be unable to read books.
Ever notice how many books, plays, movies etc, are about themselves? This book does not appear to have a plot. It does not appear to know what is honorable and what is not. There seems to be a conflict between an athletic, a WWII veteran, adict, and so uninformed with the prevelant liberal views of his profession that seems to be mob intelligence rather than individual thought processes. For an industry that has nothing good to say about capitalists and their greed, this book is really about greed and making money by some throughly dispicable characters, included the "heroes". I felt worse after finishing, than I did before. I did read the book "from cover to cover" without putting it down because I was ill and did not have anything else to read.Action: A Novel Overview
