When We Were Young With Our Corvettes: MORE California Adventures In The Early 1960s (Volume 2) ReviewI'm not sure how he does it unless he's got one heck of a memory, but these two books have a very special quality. I get pretty nostalgic anyway, but this is like traveling to places you know you've never been and feeling that you were actually there. And "there" is the way things looked and felt fifty years ago along southern California beaches and all up and down the west coast. The beautiful, white 1962 Corvette that Bill takes on these adventures is also special as he bought it new, sold it five years later and bought it back four years ago....the same car!
To see the Beach Boys in there very first concert on December 31, 1961...to get Martin Milner's autograph at Pacific Ocean Park during the filming of a Route 66 episode...to take the Corvette on the Forty-Nine Mile Scenic Drive in San Francisco and feel like you were riding along. The Table of Contents of these two books reads like a fascinating travelogue from the past. And the Scrapbook pictures at the back of the books just sealed my fate.
I bought these books as a birthday present for my husband, having seen an article about them in a magazine...and then I couldn't put them down. You won't be able to either.
We can't wait for Volume 3.
