Fodor's Los Angeles 2009: With Disneyland and Orange County (Travel Guide) ReviewI gathered from this book that Los Angeles is a city designed to keep residents whereas Shanghai, San Francisco and New York are designed to attract new residents but who in their right mind (without adequate financial resources) would become entrenched? Reading this book, I could imagine that the great weather (the biggest draw) plus the various activities would keep residents occupied but (1) parking is super expensive and (2) the overpriced studio tours are sheer chutzpah. I'm not sure that I would want to visit LA after reading this book but I can certainly see that as a resident, there would be a lot to keep one busy during downtime. I personally find it hard to use the dozens of pages listing restaurants. It must have been tedious to collect that information but it's no fun going through it. One would have to have the guide with them to use the listings.
